The Ministry of health and Sanitation has rescued over 520,000 people affected by water challenges at John Chilembwe Hospital after securing a donor to finance the water project.
According to the Minister of health Madalitso Baloyi said The Church of Jesus of The latter Day Saints has assured her that the project will take it’s course once the assessment has been done which will determine the total cost .
Baloyi further said that the water connection project at the district hospital will be pumped out from Thuchira Rive in Phalombe district.
She has also requested the donor to live up to their promise while emphasizing that health and safety have no excuses.

Inadequate water supply at the facility has also negatively affected the functioning of some important equipment for instance in dental and other sections of the facility.
In her remarks, Paramount Chief Kaduya of Phalombe has hailed the minister of health for considering Phalombe District to benefit the project
” There are many other Malawians in need of similar water project “, she added
Inadequate water supply at John Chilembwe Hospital in Phalombe district has been a major problem since the facility was commissioned for use hence affecting the effective operation of the facility.
