The MASO Awards Organising Committee has officially launched preparations for the MASO Awards 2026, set to take place on Saturday, 12 December 2026, at the Apollo Auditorium in Blantyre.
The awards ceremony, scheduled to run from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM will be held under the theme “Malawi to the World,” celebrating artists, creators, and industry players whose work continues to shape the country’s creative landscape and inspire audiences beyond Malawian borders.
According to a press release issued by Public Relations and Communications Manager Lauren Msatilomo, the theme highlights an ambition to see local talent thrive on the global arts and entertainment stage. In a significant development of this year’s award ceremony, organizers have introduced the “Disability is not Inability initiative” (DINI) aimed at recognizing artists with disabilities so for the first time we will have a performing act under this initiative.
Speaking on what fans and artists should anticipate at the Apollo Auditorium, MASO Awards Chief Executive Officer Augustine Mukisi promised a top-tier production.
”People should expect an amazingly produced awards show from the red carpet to the actual event, with different performing acts that will light up the room and celebrate Malawian creativity,” he said.
Mukisi said the preparations have started much earlier than the previous years, a move he thinks will significantly improve the quality of the event.
”As you can tell, the preparations are already happening for a show that is in December, so that guarantees a great experience. We will have a bigger and better awards show, and more details will be shared as we go along,” he said.
Public nominations and entry submissions will open from 28 September to 16 October 2026. Public voting will then run from 6 November to 4 December 2026, giving fans across the country to vote for their favourite nominees.
Organisers said that additional information on award categories, ticket sales, performers, and other event activities will be announced in the coming weeks.
