Last week I shared on the heart of worship (https://leymanck.com/the-heart-of-worship/) where the emphasis was on the fact that God primarily looks at the integrity of the heart when it comes to worship. However, there is also an element of worship that God pays attention to as well, that is the art of worship.
Exodus 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
The art of worship refers to the physical acts of worship. For example, sacrifice offering is an art of worship. As we can see in the verse above, God does not just expect us to perform any art of worship,
He requires an excellent art of worship. Here He says, ‘the lamb you choose must be spotless’! God is not talking about the heart here. He is talking about the art!
Often, we think just because God looks at the heart, it does not matter what kind of sacrifice we offer at his temple. It matters! Whether we choose to worship God through money, music, charity, the art must be excellent!
