His Excellence professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has urged citizens to focus on fostering unity so that Malawi can advance economically.
The Malawi President made these remarks in a video released from State House as he departed for South Africa on August 5, 2026.
Mutharika stated that during the September 26, 2025 elections, he promised to govern until 2030, and since taking office, he has already fulfilled 50 percent of his campaign pledges.
He further noted that the public should await the 2030 elections, at which point he will step down and hand over the presidency to a successor from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Mutharika affirmed his commitment to ensuring Malawi’s economic success, noting that efforts to boost the economy are currently progressing well.
