Olivia Masonga to represent Malawi as Miss Tourism Africa in Nigeria

Olivia Masonga, a passionate hiker and enthusiast is set to represent Malawi as Miss Tourism Africa at Jos Plateau State in Nigeria on September 20 to October 3, 2025.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana), Masonga said she finds it fascinating in participating in the Miss Tourism Africa pageant considering that tourism has potential to grow Malawi economy.
“I participated because I believe in the potential that Malawi has in the tourism sector, from our natural habitats to the species only found in Malawi like Mulanje cider and Chambo fish,” she added.
Masonga, a masters degree student, said was driven by a desire to see Malawi inserted in bigger conversations, not just limited to pageantry, but also education and tourism.
She therefore expressed hope to shine a light on the tourism sector’s potential and inspire more girls to get involved.
“I want to see more girls shine on bigger platforms, and this is just the beginning of rewriting history and as a youth with the skills that I have, I will empower my fellow youths to be able to fend for themselves,” Masonga added.
Marketing Executive and Ambassador for Miss Culture Malawi, Esnarth Natasha Muyenza said Masongas performance and presentations will be a reflection of Malawis authenticity and originality while connecting with global audiences.
“Through her participation, Malawi will be highlighted as a safe, unique and must-visit destination for cultural tourism, ecotourism and adventure travel which will build curiosity and also encourage partnerships and investments in Malawi’s tourism industry,” she added.
Miss Tourism Africa will feature 50 delegates from across Africa to celebrate culture, beauty, talent and trade.
