Minister of Tourism, Dr Vera Kamtukule has challenged young people in the country to take up business opportunities in the tourism industry, saying some business ventures in the industry do not even need a lot of money to start up.

Kamtukule said this in Blantyre on Friday when she engaged youths in the tourism industry.

“To start a business in the tourism industry, all you need is an idea, not money. Ideas are the ones that make money. Use your energy and ability to innovate, to create things to fill in the gaps within the tourism sector.” she said.

The Minister pledged total support to the youth through her ministry for those that have challenges.

“Come to us and we will connect you to the financial sectors if you need money, or the private sector to work with to grow your business,” said Kamtukule.

Frank Chisambiro, a youth who is a software developer advised young people to be intentional and be focused on their vision.

“I don’t have a degree but I work at M-technology’s as a Software Developer where I am comfortably paid because I have the skills. As a young person, apart from having academic papers, have something to offer. That is what is most important,” he said.

Chisambiro inspired attendants that he works with celebrities in his side hustle like Onesimus but it all started with him being intentional by marketing himself to the musician with what he can offer to fill in the gaps he had.

“I pitched an idea to Onesimus that I will help to manage his digital platforms which were being hacked. That is how my life changed,” said Chisambiro.
