Malawi joins CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship as a guest nation.

The Malawi National Beach Soccer Team will participate in the 2025 Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Championship as a guest nation.
Malawi has been placed in Group A alongside Burundi, Zanzibar, and the host nation, Kenya.
Speaking in an interview, sports analyst Devie Banda said Malawi’s rich legacy in beach soccer influenced Kenya’s decision to invite the team.
“There’s hope that Malawi will perform well in the tournament, as the team is equipped with a well-selected squad,” said Banda.
He highlighted that the team’s strength lies in its talented players drawn from clubs such as Nkhata Bay, Nyasa, and Nkopola.
“With this level of coordination, the team is ready to represent the nation with pride,” he added.
Banda also noted that this marks Malawi’s first international appearance since participating in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt last October.
Head coach Willy Kulimalimbe has named a final squad comprising 17 players.
