Karonga United and Mafco FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 FDH Bank Premiership draw at Karonga Stadium on Sunday, extending both sides’ wait for a first league win this season.
Kennedy Mwakabaghe gave Karonga United an early lead with a stunning free kick in the third minute, but substitute Awalu Alli equalised late on for Mafco after a defensive error by the hosts.
Karonga dominated much of the match and created several clear chances, with Casto Kayuni and captain Pilirani Thulu both guilty of missing opportunities that could have secured victory.
Karonga coach Odro Makonora blamed poor finishing for the dropped points, while Mafco coach Temwa Msuku said his side was satisfied to earn a point from a difficult away fixture.
