Inspirational Quotes for the WEEKEND

By Dr Charles Leyman Kachitsa

Some will say it is the beginning that is always challenging whilst others may point to the difficulties that is there at the finishing line. The middle bit is never much talked about since normally people observing only pay special attention at the start and when finishing where at the produced final product is visible. The irony is that there won’t be the end if there was no beginning or is it visa-versa, just wondering.

Most take the journey to start at the very beginning, for every journey must start somewhere. However, some have mistakenly finished where they were not supposed to complete their tasks. though this they may have taken it as their own end. So the end can be where one desires or plans to complete their journey what is important is knowing where those are marked. The planning and the foundation at the beginning of any endeavour is a step not to be done hurriedly as it determines the end, the completed produce.

Journeys can be longer and other journeys are shorter by design. What is important in all circumstances is to finish well. With longer journeys one may be permitted more time to devise strategies for achieving the goals set as long as all is done in fairness and with strength. Therefore, whatever your choice of a journey, endeavour to start and finish well for that is the essence of a well lived life itself.

The quotes this week are a final extraction from a book that when read in full provokes the mind to revisit grounded principles of men realising they may  be grounded on faulty premises. Only when the creator wills does all fall in place. I am sure the selected few quotations from this book listed below will enlighten you to one or two life lessons. Read and enjoy:

CONCLAVE – THE POWER OF GOD. THE AMBITION OF MEN. by Robert Harris

“Twice he rose from the bed and went to the door and twice he returned and lay down again. Of course, he knew there would be no flash of insight, no sudden infusion of certainty. He did not expect one. God did not work that way. He had sent him all the signs he needed. It was for him to act upon all the signs he needed. It was for him to act upon them. And perhaps he had always suspected what he would have to do in the end, which was why he had never returned the pass key but had kept it in the drawer of the nightstand.”

“Do not tell others what is on your mind but seek advice from someone who is wise and fears God. Keep company with young people or strangers sparingly. Do not admire the wealthy, and avoid the company of celebrities. It is better to keep company with the poor and simple, the devout and the virtuous ……..”

“Lomeli, leaning against the reception desk, sipping coffee, watched him as he held court. If he were a white man, he thought, Adeyemi would be condemned by the liberals as more reactionary than Tedesco. But the fact that he was black made them reluctant no criticise his views, His fulminations against homosexuality, for example, they could excuse as merely an expression of his African cultural heritage. Lomeli was beginning to sense that he had underestimated Adeyemi. Perhaps he was indeed the candidate to unite the church. He certainly had the largeness of personality required to fill St Peter’s Throne.”

“As his colleagues turned to look at him, Trembly bowed his head and placed his hands together in prayer. For once this ostentatious show of [iety did not irritate Lomeli. Instead, he briefly closed his eyes and gave thanks. Thank you, O Lord, for this indication of Your will, and if Cardinal Trembly is to be our choice, I pray that You may grant him the wisdom and strength to fulfil his mission. Amen.”
