Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango says the government is making efforts to complete the stalled Ntcheu Boma–Kasinje Road project following concerns raised in Parliament over its impact on transport, trade, and access to essential services in Ntcheu District.
The response came after Ntcheu Bwanje Member of Parliament, Everson Thom Dickson Chigona, put the government on the spot to complete the stalled Ntcheu Boma–Kasinje Road project, warning that the missing link is strangling transport and trade in the district
Chigona lamented that only the Ntcheu Boma–Baleni and Kasinje–Kandeu sections have been tarred, leaving a critical gap in between, which he said turns into a nightmare specifically during the rainy season.
He stressed that completing the road would link Ntcheu Boma directly to the M5, improve connectivity and access, facilitate trade activities, link farmers, and cut costs that citizens continue to endure stemming from poor road conditions in the remaining sections.
Additionally, he said he’s optimistic the project will be completed, reminding the government of a previous pledge by President Peter Mutharika to finish construction of the road.
