Soccer analyst Pary Chinyama has described the just-ended first round of the 2026/2027 FDH Premiership as highly intense and competitive, but he says goal scoring remains a major challenge for most teams.
In an interview, Chinyama said the top four teams were battling to finish on top, while others were scrambling in the relegation zone.Chinyama further commended supporters and players for their good conduct, noting that only a few disciplinary cases were recorded.
He attributed the competitiveness to FDH Bank’s increased sponsorship package, which he said has made the league more fascinating to watch.
Meanwhile, the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) confirmed on Monday that the second round will kick off on 10 October 2026, following the official close of the first round on 6 September.
SULOM stated that the league will take a two-week break to coincide with the FIFA international calendar running from 21 September to 6 October.
The statement further says Clubs have also been advised to finalize player transfers in time and in accordance with regulations.
The first round ended dramatically on Saturday, with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets thrashing Silver Strikers 5-0 at Mpira Stadium.
The result leaves Bullets at the top of the table as they wait for the outstanding match between Blue Eagles and Mighty Wanderers on 19 September at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
