Police in Dowa are investigating the murder of a 31-year-old FDH Bank employee whose body was found in her car along the Dzaleka Dowa Boma road.
Dowa Police Public Relations Officer Alice Sitima has confirmed the deceased as Tathokoza Salimu, who worked at the FDH Bank branch in Dzaleka, Dowa.
Sitima said Salimu was found dead on September 21, 2026, at Chinkhota Village near Tatolonga Bridge, with a deep cut in the neck.
She said passersby alerted police after spotting a black Subaru Impreza, registration number BZ 21709, parked suspiciously by the roadside with its engine still running.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Salimu dead on the passenger seat, lying in a pool of blood.
Inside the vehicle, police recovered a driving licence, mobile phone, FDH Bank staff identity card and other documents bearing her name.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Salimu was working at FDH Bank, Dzaleka Refugee Camp branch, and was on leave at the time of her death.
Her body was taken to Dowa District Hospital mortuary pending identification and postmortem examination. Sitima said a manhunt has been launched for suspects linked to the murder.
Salimu hailed from Muliya Village, Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje.
