The Eye of the Child has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of every child in Malawi.
The organization says every child deserves to grow up in a safe and caring environment, free from abuse, violence, and neglect.
According to a statement released on 26 July 2026 and signed by the Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Asiatu James, the Eye of the Child will continue working with the government, communities, traditional leaders, development partners, and the media to help keep children safe.She further noted that although progress has been made, many children in Malawi still face serious challenges such as child abuse, child labor, trafficking, early marriages, and limited access to essential services.
“As the Eye of the Child, we will continue working with communities to strengthen child protection, support families, raise awareness of children’s rights, prevent child trafficking, and ensure children have access to justice and psychological support,” she said.
The organization has called on parents, caregivers, teachers, faith-based organizations, civil society organizations, development partners, and all Malawians to work together to create a safer future where every child is protected.
She also highlighted that they will partner with the media, development partners, and communities to ensure children remain happy, healthy, and safe.
In Malawi, many children continue to face various forms of abuse, including child marriage. Some children are forced into marriage while still young, which undermines efforts to protect children’s rights.
To address this, child rights organizations and government agencies have recently intensified awareness campaigns, rescue operations, and support programs for survivors of child marriage. They are calling for coordinated action from parents, traditional leaders, schools, and law enforcement to keep children in school and protect them from exploitation.
