Drug Fight Malawi has partnered with Millennium University to address the rising cases of drug and alcohol abuse among young people in the country.
The Executive Director for Drug Fight Malawi, Nelson Zakeyu, confirmed the partnership, expressing his concern about the increasing number of youths involved in alcohol use, which he states has led to the deaths of many young people.
Zakeyu said in an interview that substance abuse is a growing concern, particularly among young people, and requires stronger prevention programs, public awareness, and support for those affected.
He added that early intervention and access to appropriate support services are key to protecting young people from the long-term effects of substance abuse.
He said that under the partnership, Drug Fight Malawi and Millennium University will roll out awareness campaigns, peer education programs, and counseling support targeting students and surrounding communities.
Zakeyu said the collaboration aims to equip young people with knowledge and skills to make informed choices and to create safe environments free from substance abuse.
Drug Fight Malawi is a civil society organization focused on drug prevention, rehabilitation, and advocacy.
