Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, Joseph Mwanamvekha, has reiterated the government’s commitment to fighting corruption so that development is not compromised.
Mwanamvekha made the sentiments on Monday during the commemoration of International Customs Day at Dedza Border Post in Dedza District.
The minister said the Malawi Government under Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has provided a conducive environment to help the country produce and export more than it consumes to end forex challenges.
“We would like to see low inflation and we believe Customs are vital in protecting the citizens,” Mwanamvekha said.
Commissioner General for MRA, Felix Tambulasi assured the minister that MRA will continue working with other partners in safeguarding revenues and strengthening tax base collection.
