Vice President Dr. Michael Usi attended a graduation ceremony on Sunday at Living Word Evangelistic Church (LIWEC), Shalom Mount Valley in Machinga. At the ceremony, 75 church members received Certificates of Ministry after a year-long course in the Bible and other spiritual areas of human life.
The vice President thanked Prophet David Mbewe, the father and founder of LIWEC, for being visionary in setting up the ministry, which in turn introduced Shalom Bible School, which is currently training men and women to minister the word.
“I am impressed with this place. Turn the place as an entry to heaven,” Usi said, adding that he was exceedingly impressed that the graduates were men and women of different socio-economic statuses and professions and urged the graduates to concentrate on what they learnt and be ready to spread the word.
Among the 75 graduates was Walter Nyamilandu former Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president, and an active member of the prophetic LIWEC.
“Go and preach the word. Dont do what is not for you,” the Vice President appealed to the men and women who graduated from the Shalom Bible School class of 2024 which is the first cohort since the establishment of LIWEC in 2010
The Vice President therefore encouraged the church in Malawi to always engage with government in areas that need government special attention saying the current administration is a listening and accommodating government.
“Let us join hands to develop Malawi by contributing with what we have and what we are capable of doing,” Usi added
Prophet, Mbewe thanked the Vice President for visiting Shalom Mount Valley, saying this was a great recognition to LIWEC and a great honour to the graduating men and women of the Shalom Bible School.
Mbewe said he became a born-again Christian in 1999 to set up the prophetic ministry, LIWEC with a mission to evangelise the word.
Turning to the new 75 graduates, he called them to be like a stone from Davids catapult that went strong and straight to kill Goliath.
“Go to the world and preach without fear and let the word go strong and straight. You have been anointed to preach the word and you have been given the authority to do so,” father and founder of the LIWEC added.
One of the graduates, Tasuzgika Kazembe said was happy with the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi saying his presence was a great recognition of graduating students and LIVEC.
“I know he is a busy person with many activities, but he chose to be present at the graduation here today. This is an honour,” she added.
Kazembe pledged to use the knowledge she acquired during the year-long bible studies, saying the studies were relevant to address the spiritual needs of many souls at the Shalom Mount Valley and elsewhere.
