Women civil servants in Thyolo district Saturday visited and cheered patients at Thyolo District Hospital, presenting them with assorted gifts.

The group’s chairlady, Gloria Chisanga, said the women thought it wise to cheer the patients and to share with them whatever little that was available.

“Patients often lack material support and by bringing these assorted items, we demonstrated that we genuinely care for them,’’ said Chisanga.

Besides the material support, the group also provided spiritual support by sharing the Word of God with the patients.

“We engaged in prayers, preaching the word to instill hope even in their most difficult moments, as they journey towards recovery,’’ she added.

Senior Nursing Officer at Thyolo District Hospital, Janet Wister Mhango, thanked the group for donating the items, saying this was a timely gesture.

“The donation comes at a right moment when patients in our hospital are in need of such assistance,” said Mhango, and she further encouraged partners, groups and individuals of good will to emulate Thyolo women civil servants’ support.

The women visited female and pediatric wards, where they donated various food and non-food items, including flour, soya pieces, salt, and soap, all valued at K500,000.
