The Response of Worship

By Minister Collin Chingota

Worship is our response to the revelation of God. Two factors come out of this definition: response and revelation. True worship is a response to a revelation and nothing else:

Revelation 22:8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me

After John had an encounter, a revelation of God’s glory as shown in Revelation 22, he fell down in worship! His falling in worship was a proper response to what he had witnessed. That is what worship is all about.

Sadly, there are times when worship is not a response to a revelation of God’s character, but a response to tradition, music and something else. However, nothing should inspire us to worship God apart from the nature of God himself.

Ask yourself, who is God to you? The responses should bring about a stream of worship from within your soul.
