One of the things whose effect we underestimate is our feelings. But feelings have a huge impact on our lives. Someone said that over 80% of the time we act based on our feelings, and it is our actions that lead us to a promised land or to hell.
Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart above with all diligence, for it determines the course of your life.
The heart determines the course of your life. The heart means your deep-rooted thoughts, beliefs and feelings. It is these that determine the course of our lives.
The way to guide our feelings is to manage our thoughts. Almost all emotions you can think of are triggered by thoughts. You would feel afraid unless the thought that something bad is going to happen does not enter your mind.
So, the only way to control our feelings is to watch what we listen to. Sometimes we cannot control what we hear, but we can control what we believe. The way to control what we believe is to build a wall in our hearts of the right beliefs by consistently meditating on God’s word.
