PPDA for digital transformation of business procurement services

By Santos Zefania
The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) is from September 9 to 10 set to host a two day training for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Monday, PPDA Public Relations and Communications Manager, Manday Pondani, said the comprehensive training program has been organised to provide government officials, suppliers, and the public with essential skills required to effectively utilize the new digital platforms.
Pondani said the training aims to encourage the adoption of the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS), which is intended to modernize public procurement procedures in Malawi.
“Our goal is to transform the entrepreneurial landscape into a modern system. Small-scale traders and enterprises that are eager to engage in public procurement will undoubtedly broaden their understanding of the procurement process,” she stated.
She said the initiative is designed to empower small-scale traders with knowledge and skills necessary to navigate online procurement system.
Pondani stressed that business participants will be guided through a practical, step-by-step approach on how to create a MANePS account and register on the platform.
One of the businessmen, James Mwale, praised PPDA for organizing the event saying it will serve as a road map for digital transformation of businesses.
“This program will surely improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public financial management,” he said.
MANePS is an online platform specifically designed to oversee the complete life cycle of public procurement. It includes processes such as vendor registration, planning, requisition, tendering, and contract management, catering to both government agencies and suppliers.
