NT manufacturing Ltd bows down to Ministry of Labour demands

NT Plastics Manufacturing Ltd has bowed down to the Ministry of labour demands after it was closed due to a lack of safety health and welfare.
The company issued a press statement following the surprise visit on Thursday and Friday respectively last week by the Minister of Labour Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba pledging to improve working conditions by addressing key issues raised by the government.
The statement signed by Chancy Gondwe the company’s legal representative, Gondwe and Attorneys said that the company will protect its workers from any loss in terms of daily wages and comply with the Employment Act where it will hire casual labourers for permanent jobs.
It further states that the company will make sure that all technicians will be paid above minimum wages as per the Employment Act order and amended by the minister.
“Our clients undertake and commit to have all issues raised by the minister and the director of Occupational Safety and Health remedies as soon as possible per the Employment Act and Occupational Safety Health and Warfare.
“Our client will further undertake to turn the workplace into a model company in which the safety and welfare of the employees shall always be the priority and once all the issues raised have been remedied, our client shall immediately call the minister for inspection of the workplace;” reads part of the statement.
Last week on Friday the minister of labour Vitumbiko Mumba made a surprise visit to the company following tip-offs from the surrounding areas that the company reopened despite being requested to close it down until it improves the working conditions of its workers.
