Mwanza District Council has been commended for its performance in the implementation of Public Sector Reform Programmes which government introduced in 2022 aimed at improving public service delivery.
The remarks were made by Vice President Dr Michael Usi on Tuesday after visiting out-patient and pharmacy departments at Mwanza District Hospital to appreciate public sector reform programme performance at the Council.
“The automated health management information system has cut off time spent by health workers on one patient. As such it has improved efficiency,” said Usi.
Usi also visited Mwanza Boma Market to appreciate electronic ticketing system introduced by the Council to improve efficiency and safeguard revenue collection.
“It is pleasing to note that the e-ticketing system is the fastest way for revenue collection and also one way of controlling corrupt practices in routine ticketing,” said Usi.
He commended United Nations for Development Programme (UNDP) for supporting the reform programme saying it has contributed to the success of the public sector reforms in the country.
Mwanza District Council is implementing five reform programmes which include, among others, health management information system, local revenue information management system and agricultural production.
Mwanza District Commissioner, Dr Martha Magreta Sineta, commended Usi for visiting the district to appreciate progress of the reform programme.
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera signed Public Sector Reform contracts with Ministers for participating ministries, departments and agencies and local councils on November 23, 2020.
