MEC Successfully Dispatch By-elections Materials and Equipment to Polling Stations

By Wendy Mkandawire
The Malawi Electoral Commission, MEC, says it has successfully dispatched all materials and equipment to polling stations ahead of by-elections scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
According to MEC Director of Communications Sangwani Mwafulirwa, the Commission will conduct a pre-inspection of polling materials at all polling stations on Monday, June 29, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m.
He said immediately after the pre-inspection exercise, the Commission will train polling staff at their respective polling stations.
“Accredited representatives of contesting political parties, independent candidates, and accredited observers are invited to attend the training at their own cost, to familiarize themselves with the polling, counting, and results management processes,” he said.
Mwafulirwa further advised all accredited representatives of political parties and independent candidates to witness the exercise at the polling stations they have been assigned to monitor during Tuesday’s elections.
The Malawi Electoral Commission will hold by-elections in Lilongwe Bwaira, Karonga Uliwa, and Balaka constituencies.
