Maranatha Private Academy on Friday fulfilled its pledge by giving Clyton Thomas, also known as Akila, K2.2 million and Deus Sandram K500,000.

During Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Entertainers of the Year function held in Lilongwe last week, the school’s director Ernest Kaonga promised to award Akila with K2 million and Deus Sandram, the man behind Bwande radio programme, with K500,000.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony to chairperson of the awards ceremony, Zilani Khonje Phiri, Kaonga said he is committed to foster quality content creation in the entertainment industry and that is why he decided to partner with MBC.

“I will continue pursuit to support various categories of newly re-introduced MBC Entertainers of the Year. This will help artists to sharpen their skills,” said Kaonga.

Meanwhile, information monitored at MBC indicates the public broadcaster is satisfied with the contribution from Maranatha Academy.

MBC Entertainers of the Year programme has returned after an 18-year break. The event is dedicated to celebrate creativity, artistry, and innovation in the entertainment sector and to recognise outstanding individuals across various fields.
