By MANA
A delegation from the Government of Malawi led by Principal Secretary for e-Government Prosper Mopiwa, is participating in the ID4Africa Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 being held from 12th to 15th May 2026 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Hosted at the Parc des Expositions d’Abidjan, the event has brought together governments, development partners, innovators, civil society organizations, and technology leaders from across Africa and beyond to discuss the future of digital identity and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
This year’s theme, “Digital Identity: From DPI to Digital Public Ecosystems,” reflects Africa’s growing focus on building inclusive, interoperable, secure, and citizen-centered digital systems that support socio-economic development and improved public service delivery.
Malawi’s participation demonstrates the country’s continued commitment to leveraging digital transformation as a catalyst for national development and modern governance.
The AGM provides Malawi with an important platform to engage with other African nations and global stakeholders on emerging trends in digital identity systems, interoperability frameworks, cybersecurity and data protection, digital government services, Artificial Intelligence, and inclusion of vulnerable and underserved populations in digital transformation initiatives.
As Malawi continues implementing key digital transformation initiatives under the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, participation in ID4Africa offers opportunities for peer learning, collaboration, and exploration of innovative solutions that can strengthen national systems, improve public sector efficiency, and expand access to public services in line with national development priorities and Africa’s broader digital transformation agenda.
