Ma blacks to storm Mchinji Booze Den

By Petro Mkandawire

Malawi’s reggae masters, the Black Missionaries Band, will on May 3 entertain their fans at Booze Den in Mchinji at the invitation of Thoms Park Events.

The show will see Moda Fumulani, Yanjanani Chumbu and Khozie Masimbe, among others, as supporting artists.

Speaking with Malawi News Agency on Thursday, Thoms Park Events Director, Thomson Madulira said he is looking forward to a great live reggae music gig.

He said live music events provide a unique experience for entertainment lovers as they feel the vibe in a way that is not possible through recorded music.

“Live shows have value of their own because such shows help entertainment lovers understand the beauty of live music. Music lovers are also directly connected with their loved artist. For this reason, I am urging all entertainment lovers to come in their large number because this show will give an outlet to creativity,” said Madulira.

Black Missionaries Band leader, Anjilu Fumulani, said in a separate interview that live reggae music shows are powerful and some sort of therapy as they help to express emotions, relieve stress and connect with others.

“Music is one of the most well-loved creative arts because it helps to unlock emotions and feelings within us all.  As Ma Blacks we are geared to accomplish the mission and our fans should expect more popping music as always,” said Fumulani.

One of the top reggae music fans, Joseph Kalikokha, said without music life would be in vain.

He said one good live music show is a dose such that good music (like reggae) revives a soul and makes a person feel better.

“I am ready to travel to Mchinji just to relax with Ma Blacks. I am looking forward to fireworks. I hope they will give me a brilliant performance,” said Kalikokha.
