Commemorations for National Construction Day, scheduled for Friday, 3 July 2026, have started with a parade in Lilongwe aimed at raising awareness of the day and the construction industry.
Speaking during the parade, the spokesperson for the Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA), Lyford Gideon, said that National Construction Day is important to the nation as it recognizes the role of the construction sector in the country’s development.According to Gideon, the Authority’s awareness roadshow started at Lizulu Market in Lilongwe and culminated at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), where the main commemoration will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026.
CIRA, which operates under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, is coordinating activities to mark National Construction Day.
Gideon said the main ceremony at BICC in Lilongwe on Friday, July 3, 2026, will be the highlight of the commemorations under the theme “People, Quality, and Innovation: Building a Legacy.”
Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango is expected to preside over the event, as the government seeks to advance the construction industry in Malawi.
