Karonga United Head Coach, Oscar Kaunda on Sunday said he is happy and satisfied with how the team has performed at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre in their game against Bangwe All Stars which ended in a one all draw.
Speaking in an interview, Kaunda said the team has fulfilled what they agreed since the single point has made them move to position nine with four points.
\”I have to congratulate my boys, they dominated the whole game, they created and tried almost six shots on target but maybe this was how it was supposed to be and the point changed everything on the log table which gave us hope that if we put more effort anything can happen,\” said Kaunda.
He added that in their next week\’s game against Mighty Tigers at Karonga Stadium they will fight hard to collect maximum points considering that they will have a home advantage and their preparation for the game will be special.
“Ending in a 1-1 draw reveals a game marked by strategic prowess and numerical precision” said Kaunda.
Bangwe All Stars capitalized on a penalty opportunity at the 34th minute showcasing their adeptness at converting set piece chances through Aubrey Maloya, following a foul on Clever Chikwata within the penalty box.
Meanwhile, Karonga United demonstrated resilience, equalizing at the 85th minute through a calculated play initiated by Victor Chirambo, culminating in a goal by Saulosi Moyo.
The match statistics unveil a balanced contest, with both teams exhibiting tactical acumen and statistical parity in possession, shots on goal and defensive resilience.
In his remarks, Bangwe All-Stars Head Coach, Christopher Nyambose said it was very unfortunate that they conceded a goal in the dying minutes of the game and the poor result is because of pressure which came since this was their first game to play at home.
\”We prepared well for the game, the tension was good at first and we were supposed to win this game but it seems that luck was not on our side. We have learned a lot and as a coach, I will encourage the team to reduce the pressure which has come due to the loss of two previous games,\” said Nyambose.
He added that the team will prepare thoroughly for their fixture with Wanderers considering that Wanderers is one of the big teams and currently on top position in the elite league.
In another TNM Super League match week 3, Mighty Tigers defeated Mzuzu Hammers 1-0 and Dedza Dynamos against Silver Strikers ended 1-1. However, Nyasa FCB Bullets thumped Chitipa United 3-0.
