Inspirational Quotes for the WEEKEND

By Dr Charles Leyman Kachitsa

Today the European National League of Nations finals in football appeared to have been the passing of the baton from old to the young. It pitted Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal against Spanish teenager sensational Lamine Yamal. The final promised to be a spectacle.

At age 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro for all purposes and intent in football is very advanced in age. Most players in the game retire from competitive play at around 34 years of age. On the other hand Yamal at 17 years old has shown remarkable talent that is very ripe yet at just foundation level and all things being equal, one can not imagine what his future holds in greatness.

In life we have as human beings come as babies, grown into youth and matured into adulthood. At each of these stages there is always a passage of the baton to those following behind. Interestingly, people mature differently at the various stages. Some come of age quicker than others. Yet there are those who remain in all their conduct still immature yet the body is matured. No matter what the case is, life demands that we graduate from one stage to the other so that we leave the space for those following us behind in age. The followers also need to be ready to move on to the next age bands.

The quotes this week are from a book that advocates opening of the mind as a key to living a life of fulfilment. I am sure that the selected few quotations from the book listed below will enlighten you to one or two life lessons, read and enjoy:

THE SOURCE by Dr Tara Swart

“This has long been the promise of New Age thinking: that we can control our destiny by reshaping our minds. Despite scepticism, systems like The Secret and its forbears have been used by millions of people for generations. Why? Because, if we strip away the mystique, some of the concepts underlying them are fundamentally powerful. Even more importantly, they are now being backed up by the latest breakthroughs in neuroscience and behavioural psychology.”

“Our brains actively grow and change during childhood. In contrast, as adults, we have to consciously direct ourselves to grow and develop as people. Quite how much we can use the inherent flexibility of the brain to enhance our experience of life is actually mind-blowing, and this concept will underpin all the theory and practice outlined in The Source.”

“Life does not have to be about fear and half-measures or what ifs and regrets. We each have the capacity in our brains to live life fully, boldly and without shame or sadness. I have come to learn, through the combination of my cultural heritage with modern medicine and neuroscience, that if we access the full potential of our brains, we can live life very, very differently to the way we have before today.”

“There is nothing mystical or magical about setting your intention. It’s just a question of asking yourself: ‘Is my life panning out in the way I want it to?’ and if the answer is no, envisaging the way you’d like to be and taking action. It is through unlocking the full power of our brain – The Source – that we begin to think and behave in ways that will help us realise this vision.”
