Inspirational Quotes for the WEEKEND

By Dr Charles Leyman Kachitsa

There are those moments when all is quiet and none amongst the people present has any words to say, no explanation to give. People will be looking down at their feet with arms akimbo, some gazing at each other and not particularly seeing each other, longing for the darkness to come or continue if it is at night. Some to the disbelief of normal people, have mentioned of not wanting to see the next day, wishing it was a continuous one-day world. Yet faced with a similar situation, others have wished the day to finish and that nature quickly usher them on to the next day.

Totally there have been occasions in some communities where time stood still and everyone stopped in their stride to reflect what they had done which in retrospective was an abomination, and evil perpetrated by groupthink only to be discounted when senses are back. Emotions do often betray people and when a band of people get so blinded and act with such hyped emotions there is always the chance that realisation will kick in that what they have done on a spur of the moment has far reaching consequences affecting several generations to come.

In olden days when ever people realised upon reflection of their mistaken actions which would have been churned out of unchecked emotions, they would gather around to offer prayers and or sacrifices as a way of surrender and correction of the abhorred behaviour. Practice makes perfect and like we exercise the physical body for endurance, emotions need exercise to keep their posture endurable.

\"\"\"\"\"\"The quotes this week are a continuation from the book with a series of various writers talking about the things in our minds which form the basis of people\’s daily decision making and their choices. I am sure that the selected quotations below from this book will enlighten you to one or two life lessons, read and enjoy:

TOWARDS A NEW WORLD VIEW by Various Authors Edited by Russell E DiCarlo

It depends how far back we want to take it. For example , in certain respects you can go back all the way to people like Socrates and Moses. They are still affecting us in terms of the basic Promethean impulse of rebelling against oppressive structures and creating moral and intellectual autonomy for the human being. This is still an operating, underlying impulse in our current world view shift.“

“At the heart of the scientific world view is the scientific method – observation, hypothesis; experiments to test theory; results; and conclusions. The method assumes that rational intelligence and logical thought are the highest paths to the truth. Science places an overriding importance on knowledge through the five senses. According to the scientific world view, if something cannot be measured, detected, analyzed or studied, then for all intents and purposes it does not exist. It is not considered scientifically ‘real’.”

“Well, anybody that studies the mysteries of the Universe at any level of the game is bound to get to a spiritual insight. There’s no way to escape it. Physicists particularly want to understand how things are. Now the danger is that some physicists are approaching this from a materialistic point of view, that God is over there and science is over here, and never the twain shall meet.”

“Finally, you have to recognize \"\"that what you think not only affects the world – it is the world. There is no world outside of your thought perceptions of that world. There is no way that you will ever, ever know that there is a world outside your thought perceptions of the world. Therefore, accept that you create the world. There\’s no way to avoid that power. And whatever YOU are, is exactly the same \’You\’ as there is in every other form of life that you see around you. When you say that you create the world, you\’re speaking for every living sentient thing.“ (Fred Alan Wolf).
