Inspirational Quotes for the WEEKEND

By Dr Charles Leyman Kachitsa

The things we take for granted are those that we feel are free and therefore people don’t attach a value to them. Yet as natural laws have established, most valuable things in this world are \’priceless\’, are given for free by the creator. Yet if attention is paid to them, analyse and feel their deeper forbidding, these are the sweetest of things one can have. It’s only that we do not pay attention to such things.

Human beings by their nature like to pay the highest prices for things that have no true value in life and not life sustaining. You need to observe how when people go to shop for toothpaste, they look for the cheapest one, yet this if anything defines livelihood, is supposed to be the most carefully selected item to be used daily in life. Imagine that in desperation to clean our mouths which with good dieting is a self cleaning body part, we put whatever chemical we buy in the mouth where all things to sustain life pass through. One would think that we would be more careful as to what we put in our mouth every morning we wake up.

Elsewhere already given in this column in a previous write-up as things people take for granted include: the air we breathe, water, the sun, the gift of life, relationships, shelter, plants that grow naturally, soil just to mention some. The biggest of all being natural love.

We need to ask ourselves questions on how these things given to humans freely to sustain life were created, reflect on a daily basis the abundance we have around which with rightful choices can be enjoyed. Finally, most important of all, be thankful you can experience these things that are given freely by the creator, the sweetest of all things.

\"\"The quotes this week re from a book that teaches principles of leading a life that inspires others. Though the tips are given to suit a formal organization setting, I am sure these can be applied universally. Have a look at the selected quotations below from this book, they should provide one or two life lessons. Read and enjoy:

THE HALLO EFFECT by Phil Rosenzweig

“The wrong end of the stick – It may be true that successful companies often pursued a highly focused strategy, but that doesn\’t mean highly focused strategies often lead to success.“

“One might imagine that a way forward is to reject stories and insist purely on a scientific approach to business and management. But I\’m not so sure. Stories will always be with us. They\’re an important part of life, providing coherent explanations of events. They help people act by conferring a moral dimension to events. By offering what Stephen Jay Gould called \’a rare beacon of hope,\’ stories can inspire people to action. ….“

“In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to the second pillar of company performance, execution. A few prominent business leaders have trumpeted its importance. In the view of Larry Bossidy, former head of Honeywell and before that a senior executive at General Electric, execution isn\’t merely one of the important elements of a company performance, but ranks right at the top. \’Execution,\’ he wrote, is the great unaddressed issue in the business world today. its absence is the single biggest obstacle to success and the cause of disappointments that are mistakenly attributed to other causes, ,,,,,,,“

“Searching for the secrets of success reveals little about the world of business but speaks volumes about the searchers – their aspirations and their desire for certainty.“
