Have you ever felt invisible or unappreciated? Have you poured your heart into something—serving, creating, helping—only to feel like no one noticed? Maybe you’ve wondered, Does any of this even matter?
Let me reassure you: Yes, it matters. Deeply. The world may not see your faithfulness yet, but God does. And He knows how to reward what is done behind the scenes. In a culture that celebrates the spotlight, Hiddenness feels countercultural. But it’s actually one of heaven’s most powerful principles. It’s about showing up and doing what’s right—using your gifts, time, and strength—not for applause or reward but because it’s right. Sometimes, it means pressing on in the dark, in silence, and alone—but still with purpose.
This is the heart of integrity: staying faithful to your values and God-given purpose even when it’s inconvenient, underappreciated, or unnoticed. It’s doing the right thing when no one else sees—yet heaven does. Living with integrity starts by knowing who you are—your talents, your mission, your values—and staying committed to them. It also demands persistence. The journey isn’t always smooth. There are delays, obstacles, and seasons of silence. But success often comes not to the most talented but to the most consistent.
Jesus emphasized this principle. He taught that prayer, generosity, and devotion are best practiced privately—unseen by crowds but seen by God (see Matthew 6). He assured us that when we do good in secret, our heavenly Father—who sees everything—will reward us in ways that count.
Look at Joseph. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, exiled to a foreign land. Then falsely accused and imprisoned. He could have become bitter or given up. But he kept using his gifts—even in the lowest places. In prison, he interpreted dreams for fellow inmates with no guarantee of anything in return. But that very act became the channel through which he was remembered and later recommended to Pharaoh. That hidden moment of service catapulted him from the prison to the palace- as the Egyptian Prime Minister.
Consider David. He didn’t start on a stage. He worshipped alone in the wilderness, writing psalms, singing them and protecting sheep. He developed his gifts quietly, consistently. One day, someone who had seen him play recommended him to the king. That faithful practice in private became the bridge to royal destiny- as King Saul’s Chief Musician.
I’ve seen a glimpse of this in my own journey. I love to write to uplift others—often through social media. But for years, my posts received little response. Still, I kept writing. Then, one day, on my birthday, I posted something heartfelt. Unbeknownst to me, it reached someone with influence. That one post led to an invitation to one of the most historic political and royal events in recent British history—held at Westminster Abbey. I found myself just rows away from Her Majesty the Queen, near Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown. All from a moment of quiet faithfulness.
Success isn’t always loud. It’s shaped in the hidden hours—while serving without applause, helping those who can’t return the favor, refining your message, practicing your craft, or praying when no one else knows. Those are the moments that prepare us for promotion.
Champions are made in the gym but crowned in the ring.
So if you’re in a season where you’re sowing seeds but seeing no fruit—don’t stop. Hiddenness is not a waste. It’s divine preparation. It’s where God is present and active. Keep going. Keep giving. Keep growing. Even in the dark, in silence, and alone. Because when God rewards you, it won’t be ordinary—it will be extraordinary.
