The minister of Information and Communications Technology, Dr Shadric Namalomba, has held high-level meetings with digital gurus aimed at advancing technology transformation in the country.
During a meeting on Tuesday with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Senior Africa Policy Manager, Linus Melly, the two sides discussed digital transformation to improve key sectors like agriculture and to make smartphones more affordable for ordinary citizens.

In a separate engagement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) led by its Area Representative for Southern Africa, Halima Letamo. The discussions centred on developing an emergency telecommunications plan, broadband and infrastructure mapping, and improving data transmission across the country.
The minister also met officials from StarSat led by their Chief Executive Officer, Yang Sen, who said is implementing a project with the Malawi Government that began in 2016, which has already provided satellite television services to about 700 villages nationwide.
