Courageous Musasa, a former street-connected child has managed to support about 98 orphaned and vulnerable children through her Courageous Kids Foundation which was established in 2013.
Musasa disclosed this on Monday during the foundation’s 12th-anniversary celebration at their centre in Mpemba in Blantyre, outlining the successes that have taken place in the lives of street-connected children.

“Currently, the foundation cares for 98 children, with 13 pursuing tertiary education at Malawi’s public universities and one graduate from the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST). Others are in primary and secondary schools,” she said.
Musasa emphasized the importance of education and extra-curricular activities as core components of the foundation in shaping the children’s lives, careers and behaviour.
“We encourage all our children to attend school and participate in activities like martial arts and choreography to foster tolerance, unity and love,” she added.
Musasa expressed gratitude to well-wishers who have supported the children with basic necessities, including food, shelter and school fees.
She, however, appealed to other organizations and individuals to follow suit.
Anthony Kaulula, a beneficiary of the foundation and a second-year student at Lilongwe University of Agraiculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), studying Bachelor of Agriculture Extension, praised Musasa for her dedication to the children.

“The support from the foundation motivates us to work hard and graduate with good results,” he said.
Musasa who faced unimaginable hardships before being adopted by Friends of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO), started the foundation driven by her personal experiences to create a haven for children to thrive.
