Social and political commentators have commended Malawi Government for its efforts to protect Malawians affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Thursday, social commentator, Victor Chipofya, said the gesture shows that government fully cares about its citizens who are outside the country.
“This is important because at the end of the day it is the people of Malawi who are involved,” he said.
He stated that this kind of transparency from the Office of the President and Cabinet, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation, in offering support to citizens is important saying Malawians need to know what is happening.

According to the press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued on Monday, government is making necessary arrangements to provide support to Malawians affected by xenophobia attack in some parts of South Africa.
