The body of the State Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, Late Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima has arrived at Nsipe in Ntcheu district where a State burial ceremony will take on Monday, June 17.
Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Albert Mbawala, said he is expecting the situation to be calm in Ntcheu just like it was the case in Lilongwe during the body send-off.
Mbawala said the late Dr. Chilima always advocated for peace and, as such, he expects the same to prevail during the funeral ceremony.
\”I\’ve talked to various political parties and there\’s an assurance that we will bury our son, who was the country\’s Vice President, peacefully,\” said Mbawala.
Hundreds of people gathered along M1 road at Nsipe trading center and Catholic Church of the Diocese of Dedza where Mass was conducted.
The State Vice President together with eight other people died in a plane crash in Chikangawa forest in Mzimba district on Monday, June 10.
His excellency the State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and various other dignitaries from Malawi and beyond are expected to attend the burial ceremony at Nsipe in Ntcheu district, the late Vice President’s home village.
