The body of Principal Secretary in the Department of procurement and supply services, Chikumbutso Mtumodzi, has departed from Mthunzi Funeral Services for his residence in Area 10, Lilongwe, where final respects will be paid before his burial on Monday.
Speaking at Mthunzi Funeral Services on behalf of the family, Lelia Mseka Likongwe expressed deep sorrow, saying they had lost a pillar of the family—someone whose absence will be incredibly difficult to replace.
“It is with great sadness for the family to lose such a person as for us we took Mtumodzi as the pillar and a father to our both mother’s and father’s families who considered everybody with kindness and without segregation,” she said.Speaking on behalf of the government, Controller of Statutory Corporation, Peter Simbani, expressed sorrow over the loss of Mtumodzi, noting that he had made significant contributions to the government.
He added that Mtumodzi’s passing is deeply felt and that his legacy will be remembered, as the government has lost an important figure.
Mtumodzi, who passed away on Monday, due to complications related to high blood pressure and diabetes, also served as the Director of Information.
He is survived by a wife and three children.
Mtumodzi 52 will be buried at Chankhungu in Dowa District on Wednesday.
