Minister of Information and Digitalisation Moses Kunkuyu has urged broadcasters to remain professional as they play their role in covering the 2025 general elections.
Kunkuyu said the broadcasters role is not to influence the voter’s choices but help them with the voting process.
He was speaking during the opening of a two day Annual Broadcasters Conference organised by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).
“Broadcasters should provide accurate and timely information to the voters, the nation will rely on you [ broadcasters] to give them information during the elections so manage the information ethically and professionally,” he said.

In her remarks Board Chairperson for MACRA Bridget Chibwana said broadcasters play a great role in the electoral process and they need to provide relevant information and promote transparency.
“Broadcasters have to follow principals of broadcasting by providing coverage that gives voters accurate information,” she said.
The 2024 Annual Broadcasters Conference will focus on the role of broadcasters in covering the 2025 general elections.
