One of the issues that affect well-meaning Christians is the issue of blessings. A blessing is a good thing. But it can also be a bad thing depending on one’s attitude towards it. Why do many Christians desert God and backslide once they are blessed with material wealth? What seemed as a blessing becomes a burden. However, a pure attitude towards blessing can solve the problem:

Genesis 12:2 I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
One of the blessed individuals we find in the Bible is Abraham. We never hear that the blessing on Abraham was a burden to him. Genesis 12 shows us why. The verse above clearly shows that God revealed to Abraham the reason he was to bless him. It was for him to be a blessing.
You see, when you realise that every blessing upon us is God’s means of blessing a larger audience the better we will become. But if we think God blesses us just for our sake, we may end up worshipping the blessing itself. Realise today, that you are blessed to be a blessing to others.
