The 2024-2030 Political Empowerment of Women Launched

The Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare has launched the 2024-2030 National Strategy for the Political Empowerment of Women on Tuesday with the aim at increasing women’s representation in Parliament and local councils to 35 percent in the 2025 elections and 50 percent by 2030.
The launch took place at Linthipe 1 in Dedza Central East Constituency.
During the launch, guest of honour, Jean Sendeza, who is the Minister of Gender, said that the strategy will promote the successful participation of women, youth, and people with disabilities in the upcoming general election.
Sendeza said that the strategy would guide political parties to adopt gender-transformative practices in various political roles.
