Miss Malawi 2025, Thandi Chisi, has finally spoken out following a wave of debate on social media over her exclusion from this year’s Miss World pageant.
In a statement dated 27 July 2026, Chisi said she will not comment on matters currently being discussed in the public domain. She, however, expressed gratitude for the support, encouragement, and solidarity she has received from the public in recent days.
Her remarks come after the Miss Malawi organization selected Ireen Navitcha to represent Malawi at Miss World 2026, leaving Chisi out of the role, the decision sparked questions from the public about why the organizers chose Navitcha instead of Chisi.
“At this time, I have made a deliberate decision not to comment on matters being discussed in the public domain. This decision reflects my belief that responsible leadership requires patience,” reads part of the statement.
She added that while many narratives continue to circulate, she remains steadfast in truth, integrity, and fairness and confident that in due course the relevant facts will emerge, and she will address the matter at the right time.
Chisi further stated that she will remain focused, resilient, and committed to the values of service, character, and responsibility that the title represents.
“I respectfully ask for your continued patience and understanding as these processes take their course Until then, I will remain exactly who I have always been steadfast in truth, unwavering in principle, and unafraid to stand for what is right,” she added.
The Miss Malawi organization recently explained that Chisi was not selected due to age eligibility requirements and lack of international pageant experience.
