The trial in the murder case of medical doctor Victoria Bobe has today commenced at the High Court in Blantyre.
Dr. Bobe, who was 33, worked as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and also lectured at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.
Victoria Bobe was shot dead at her home in Chigumula Township in Blantyre on November 17th last year, during an armed robbery.
Seven people were arrested in connection with the murder,and are Charles Chikafa, Maxwell Elia, Rafik Abdul Hassan, Santos Chamaba, Peter Chimenya, Issa Ali and Peter Mphepo.
Appearing before High Court Judge Ruth Chinangwa the seven have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, robbery and burglary.
High Court Judge Ruth Chinangwa has set this week, from July 7th to 10th, for the hearing of the case.
The State is expected to start parading witnesses today, with the first witness being Yamikani Bobe a husband to the deceased.
Dr. Bobe’s death shocked the country’s medical fraternity, where she was known for her work in maternal health.
