Malawian musician Praise Umali has released a music video for his song Ameni, which is part of his newly released album titled Dreams for Sale, and has since gained attention on social media.
Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Thursday, Umali said the song was born out of the grief he experienced after losing two of his friends last year.
“The inspiration came from grief. I lost two of my friends last year, and it hit quite hard. So, this song came to me as sort of a comfort to say, if it’s in your will, God, we will accept it even though we are hurting,” he said.
Umali added that he hopes the song resonates with people facing difficult moments in their lives.
“I just hope listeners hear this message and relate in their hard times. Knowing that it hurts but realizing there isn’t much we can do about things that we have no control over. God’s will be done,” he added.
The artist said Ameni was released on June 15, adding that fans should expect more music videos from the project.
One of his fans, Annie Makalani, described Ameni as more than just a song, saying its message has brought her comfort during difficult moments.
“The song is deeply touching. It reminds me that even in moments of pain and loss, there is hope in trusting God’s will. Every time I listen to it, I feel comforted and encouraged to keep going,” she said.
