Masters FC Head Coach Peter Mponda has commended his players for displaying resilience and determination after bouncing back from a 3-0 defeat to Silver Strikers during Week Four of the FDH Bank Premiership at Silver Stadium.
Masters FC produced a dominant performance to defeat Goshen City Dedza Dynamos 4-0 under floodlights at Bingu National Stadium, a result which lifted the Lilongwe-based side to the top of the FDH Bank Premiership table with 12 points from five matches.
Speaking during a post-match interview, Mponda praised his squad for maintaining composure, tactical discipline and attacking efficiency throughout the encounter, saying the victory demonstrated the players’ hunger to remain competitive in the title race.
“It was a very good game and I am impressed with the way the boys have bounced back. The team is showing great promise and the players worked hard throughout the match,” said Mponda.Meanwhile, Dedza Dynamos Head Coach Alex Ngwira admitted that his side struggled defensively, particularly in wide areas, where the team failed to recover quickly and contain Masters FC’s movements during attacking transitions.
Ngwira, however, remained optimistic about his squad’s potential, saying the players have the quality to compete in the FDH Bank Premiership but require continued mentorship, tactical guidance and improved concentration in key moments of matches.
“If you watched the game, especially in the second half, we created some chances and could have gotten back into the match. The boys are good and we will continue mentoring and improving them,” Ngwira said.
The Dedza Dynamos coach also dismissed suggestions that playing under floodlights contributed to his team’s defeat, insisting that the conditions were favourable and identical for both sides throughout the encounter at Bingu National Stadium.“Not really, the floodlights are just the same as sunlight, so I would not say they played a role in our defeat,” added Ngwira.
In Week Six fixtures of the FDH Bank Premiership, Dedza Dynamos, who are currently positioned 16th on the table with one point, will host 13th placed Kamuzu Barracks at Dedza Stadium, while Masters FC travel to Blantyre to face Ekhaya FC.
