Akatswiri Holdings donates vehicle to Zomba CCAP Church

A mining exploration and consultancy company, Akatswiri Holdings, on Sunday handed over a Toyota Voxy worth K17 million to Zomba CCAP Church as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Presenting the vehicle, Akatswiri Holdings Director Hilton Banda said he decided to donate the vehicle considering he has been a member of Zomba CCAP for almost 14 years and that the church had no utility vehicle.

“This is also part of corporate social responsibility. I had to donate the vehicle so that it should serve the church better,” Banda added.

Banda, his wife and two children unveiled and handed over the eight-seater white Toyota Voxy at Zomba CCAP Hall where Zomba City Presbytery also inducted Rev. Jafali Asid Phiri as new moderator for the church, taking over from Rev. Assistant Commissioner of Police Charles Masambuka who has gone on retirement.

Akatsiri Holdings also pledged to service the vehicle for a period of five years and added that the company will also be paying salary for drivers.

Receiving the vehicle, Moderator of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP, Rev. Dr. Humphreys Zgambo, thanked Akatswiri Holdings and its director for the donation, saying this was a commendable gesture to the church.

“This is a good gesture to the church. We really appreciate this,” Zgambo said after receiving keys for the vehicle which he later handed over to the newly inducted Rev. Asidi Phiri.

Zomba CCAP Church has in its vision (Vision 2062) a plan to procure a utility vehicle to serve the church better and, according to Rev. Asidi Phiri, Akatswiri Holdings came in to respond to this need.
