As we step into this new chapter, I’m reminded of the importance of reflecting on where we’ve been and envisioning where we’re headed. Many of you may know about my lifelong passion for exploring the nature of prosperity, the role of adversity, and the influence of the divine in shaping our destinies. Born and raised in Africa, I was deeply curious to understand why we Africans—both on the continent where I grew up and in the diaspora, including Europe, where I now live—struggle with chronic poverty despite being relatively religious compared to other ethnicities. This question, along with decades of searching, dedication, and enduring painful experiences as an educator, clergy, and psychology scholar, has culminated in the establishment of The Love and Bliss (LaB). This groundbreaking initiative is dedicated to exploring and sharing the transformative power of God’s love (agape), LOVE virtues and the role of adversity in achieving bliss—a state of holistic well-being encompassing physical, economic, social, mental, and spiritual prosperity. Through its work, The LaB seeks to inspire and empower individuals, particularly from Afro-descendant and marginalised communities, to embrace these principles in their lives, creating a ripple effect that influences future generations. Our mission is to equip a new generation of leaders with the tools to embody bliss, fostering purpose and resilience that transcends challenges. By doing so, The LaB aims to spark meaningful change within communities and beyond, nurturing a legacy of empowerment and inspiration. To achieve this, transformation must begin through enculturation: passing down LOVE virtues to future generations. This journey starts in the hearts of parents, cultivating a personal relationship with the God of LOVE and passing that to their children. By instilling a flourishing mentality in children and young people, beginning within secure and loving family environments, parents and community leaders can counteract historical trauma and create a foundation for lasting prosperity. This vision extends beyond families to promote communities grounded in love and well-being. The LaB is committed to guiding African descendants in applying the LOVE model, blending historical wisdom, scientific rigour, and spiritual values to create joyful, fulfilled lives for generations to come. To support this vision, we are launching LaB Nuggets, a periodical correspondence featuring educational, inspirational, and informative content. Let’s make 2025 a year of the beginning of transformation and inspiration. Join us on this journey to spark change, one heart, one family, and one community at a time. May the love of God and His peace that transcends human understanding fill your hearts and minds always. |
