Jetu’s musical career is a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to pursue one’s dreams. Her rise to fame was as unexpected as it was inspiring, especially given her age. The moniker ‘Jetu’ harks back to her childhood, a nickname inspired by the boxing legend King Kong King Marshal Jetu, known for her feisty spirit. Residing in Bangwe Township, Blantyre City, Jetu has not only made a name for herself in music but also in comedy, featuring in numerous comic clips that showcase her multifaceted talent.

Her foray into drama and comedy began at a tender age, but it was the loss of her husband in 2019 that reignited her passion for comedy. Moving to Blantyre to live with her grandchildren, she found solace and joy in creating humorous content with them, which helped her cope with stress and anxiety. Jetu’s vision extends beyond Malawi’s borders; she aspires to travel internationally, sharing her comedic flair and musical prowess alongside her grandson Emu Dee.

The release of her music video for “Simunatchene” on YouTube has been a resounding success, amassing over 250,000 views shortly after its debut. The song, featuring her grandson Dyokhwe, is a playful commentary on social etiquette, humorously addressing the faux pas of inadequate dressing for an event. The video’s surprise element was the appearance of another seasoned musician, Abiti Najere, dispelling rumors of animosity between the two artists.

It serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, proving that age is merely a number and that creativity knows no bounds. As Jetu continues to break barriers and set new standards, she not only enriches the musical tapestry of Malawi but also paves the way for future generations to dream big and aim high, regardless of their age or background.
